About Us

Sierra Montessori Academy (SMA) is a Tuition-Free K-8 California public charter school.

Differences between Montessori and Traditional Classroom Approaches

Classroom-based Program
SMA offers a private school environment where students excel in small class sizes of less than 25 students.  The Montessori method is heavily integrated into the Kindergarten through 3rd grade classroom environment where individual variations in a child's development allows the focus to be on educating the whole child.

In grades 4 through 8, the California standards-based curriculum is used to better prepare our students for transition to high school.

Independent Study Program
An I
ndependent Study program is also available as an optional alternative strategy for eligible students whose needs may be best met through study outside of the regular classroom setting.  Independent study can be arranged for several days or every day of the week.  Please contact us for additional information.

Objectives
Sierra Montessori Academy is committed to providing a sensory-rich, hands-on, student-centered learning environment where all students can:

    - Develop respect and tolerance for themselves and others

    - Become involved, responsible citizens

    - Be able to realize their full potential

If you are looking for a caring, safe, small school environment, SMA has just what you have been looking for.  Student success is our goal!
